When we imagine the inner mind of a scientist we often think of their world to be one of absolute calm and certainty. Science is in every way diverse, complex and utilises varying degrees of creativity. So it is understandable that there are limitless ways a scientist can approach their work.
What starts out as chaotic, methodical or inspirational can end with a definite answer or a path to other promising possibilities, to an outsider seems like chaos to calm. Alicia Sometimes, Nat Bates and Jen Martin delve into the mind of four scientists and listen in on their approach to science and creative thinking.
Alicia Sometimes is a poet and broadcaster, Nat Bates is a sound artist and Dr Jen Martin is a Lecturer in Science Communication at University of Melbourne.
